Explanation of Needs

Bibles — Bringing God's Word to Those Who Need It

We have been blessed over the years to receive many Swahili Bibles, yet they are given out almost as quickly as they arrive. For many people, buying a Bible is simply beyond their reach. There is therefore a constant need for more Bibles so that people can read, learn, grow in faith and share God's Word with others.

Food & Medical Support

We serve communities in one of the poorest areas of Kenya, where many people struggle to meet their basic needs. Hunger is a daily reality for many, and we are often unable to meet all the needs before us. Every contribution can help provide food for someone who is hungry.

There are also significant medical needs that families are unable to afford. We are currently supporting a lady receiving treatment for throat cancer, along with others facing serious medical difficulties.

You can give towards these needs through JustGiving or through Stewardship, where gifts from UK taxpayers may be eligible for Gift Aid.

Evangelism & Community Outreach

Our seven evangelists take the Gospel into surrounding communities, reaching people who may otherwise have little opportunity to hear God's Word. They need practical support with transport and food as they serve.

Zowerani Church is also fundraising towards the purchase of church land. In addition, our pastors need to visit church members in their homes, and bicycles would enable them to travel more easily and reach more people.

Education & Pastoral Training

We are committed to helping poor children receive a good education. Mikoroshoni Primary School, where Pastor Joshua is head teacher, provides free education and a hot meal to some of the poorest children in Shanzu village, where Zion Celebration Church is based.

Zion Celebration Church also provides ongoing biblical training for pastors and church leaders through the Bible School on Wheels (BSOW), created by Teach Every Nation. This flexible programme brings Bible teaching directly into local communities, providing one year of training for ten students and equipping them to serve their churches and communities.

Since March 2026, ZCC leadership has also been providing teaching modules for pastors and church leaders. These are used at conferences and in ongoing training to strengthen biblical teaching and help maintain sound doctrine across the churches.

Clothing & Shoes — Meeting Practical Needs

The need for clothing and shoes is ongoing in the communities we serve. Many people have very little to wear, and even a good pair of shoes can be a luxury.

The purchase and distribution of good-quality second-hand clothing and shoes is therefore always a need. Where necessary, new shoes may also be provided. These simple, practical gifts can bring warmth, dignity and encouragement to people who have very little.

Church Buildings — Providing a Place to Worship

Zion Celebration Church and its affiliated churches meet in more than 30 locations, but currently have only one permanent building. Many congregations meet in temporary structures where inadequate roofing leaves people exposed to rain and other weather conditions, sometimes forcing meetings to be cancelled.

Makumba and Duke churches have recently purchased land through great sacrifice but still need buildings. Simple starter buildings with timber, metal roofing and mud walls would provide a dry and safe place for people to meet, worship, learn from God's Word and hear the Gospel.

Church Administration & Compliance

As a registered ministry in Kenya, Zion Celebration Church has ongoing legal and administrative responsibilities, including submitting annual government returns and maintaining registration with the umbrella organisation that represents the church in government meetings.

Meeting these responsibilities is essential to maintaining ZCC's legal status and enabling the church to continue its work across the communities it serves.
